Work burnout is a form of prolonged, work-related stress that causes extreme physical and emotional exhaustion. People commonly experience burnout in high-stress professions such as the military, law enforcement, paramedical services, and healthcare.

Resilience is the ability to bounce back after adversity. When you look at burnout from a resilience perspective, you can see it as an opportunity for self-reflection instead of a negative experience. As the saying goes, “when life gives you a lemon, make lemonade.”
