Parenting Developmental Disorders

Parenting a child with a developmental disorder, whether that is autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, a learning disability, or something else, comes with a specific and often exhausting set of demands. The love is not complicated; navigating the behaviours, the systems, the unsolicited opinions, and your own emotional responses to all of it very much can be.

Therapy offers space to talk through the real day-to-day, not a polished version of it. Sessions might focus on understanding and responding to specific behaviours your child is exhibiting, building consistent routines that support their needs, finding language and strategies for advocating within school or medical systems, and making room to process your own feelings as a parent, including the grief, guilt, and pride that can all coexist in this role.
