It took us a long time to realize that it wasn’t just a keen focus on the relationship between the therapist and client. What made Shift extra-special was the little things: the warm greetings and laughter in the waiting room; the fact that we didn’t skimp on cheap coffee and tea; the friendships that would come from our community workshops; and the idea that a place where we explore our deepest wounds could also be a place of joy.

We’ve evolved since, but our appreciation of the little things hasn’t. It has shaped our fresh approach to therapy, An approach that prioritizes connection, creativity, and being solution-focused. We want to make mental wellness a routine part of daily life, like going to the gym, seeing your physician, or getting a massage.

Our therapists are people first. In other parts of their lives, they’re artists and athletes, teachers and lifelong students, lovers of travel and advocates for social change. They use their own humility as a bridge to yours. 

Throughout our journey of supporting thousands of clients and growing to include nearly 100 team members from coast-to-coast, we are focused on establishing a new norm for quality and experience of care.

A couple of common questions about getting started at Shift Collab.

What can I expect in my first session?

Generally speaking, your first full session will be focused on building rapport, understanding your needs and goals, and working together to establish a care plan. For more on how to prepare and what to expect, have a look at our Therapy Basics Guide.

What software is used for sessions?

We use Jane, an app that's used by many health practices. It has video and audio sessions built into the platform. You'll receive a link for your session about 30-minutes before its scheduled to begin. Although it's rare, we occasionally use a healthcare compliant version of Zoom for session.

How does the Fit Guarantee work?

Starting therapy is kind of like dating. With a bit of careful matchmaking, hopefully the connection is there. But sometimes it's just not. If you don't feel a connection with your therapist, or if you don't feel like they're right for you, just contact our Care Team at hello@shiftcollab.com to be rematched. We'll provide you with a full session with a new therapist for free.

How do I pay for my sessions? 

You'll get a payment link emailed to you after your first session. Once a credit card is on file, you'll automatically be billed for each subsequent session. If you are using your health benefits to cover the cost, you'll submit the receipt provided after payment to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

Simply send an email to hello@shiftcollab.com or call 1-800-661-8681. We're open from 8am to 8pm EST between Monday and Friday, and from 9am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday. Our Care Team is there and ready to help.
