Relationship with Food and Body

Binge Eating

Binge eating is often misunderstood, and one of the most important things to recognize is that it's not about willpower or discipline. Episodes of eating beyond fullness, often in private and followed by distress, tend to be tied to something much deeper: emotional pain, restriction, stress, or patterns that developed long before you were consciously aware of them.

In therapy, the focus is on understanding what drives the episodes, not on shaming you for having them. You might explore what emotional states tend to precede a binge, whether you've been caught in restrict-and-binge cycles, or how your relationship with your body is shaping your relationship with food. The aim is to help you build a more sustainable, compassionate connection with eating that isn't organised around fear, punishment, or rigid rules.
