Sexuality and Intimacy

Struggles with intimacy often have roots that aren't immediately obvious. Fear of being truly seen, past experiences that made vulnerability feel unsafe, or patterns of communicating that push people away before things get too close: these don't disappear on their own, but they are things you can understand and shift with the right support.

Therapy in this area tends to focus on what's actually underneath the difficulties you're noticing, whether that's in romantic relationships, friendships, or your relationship with yourself. You might work through the beliefs you've developed about your own worthiness of connection, practise expressing your needs and limits more directly, or use mindfulness approaches to stay present during moments that usually trigger withdrawal. The aim is more genuine connection, which starts with understanding what's been standing in the way.
