The messages men receive about who they're supposed to be start early and can be hard to untangle. Toughness, stoicism, self-sufficiency, not needing help: these expectations shape how you relate to yourself and others in ways you might not have fully examined yet. Questioning them doesn't mean rejecting them wholesale. It means figuring out which parts actually fit you.
Therapy is a good place to do that kind of reflection. You can explore where your ideas about masculinity came from, how they're serving you and where they're getting in the way, and what it might look like to relate to yourself and the people around you on your own terms. This isn't about being told who you should be. It's about having room to figure that out yourself.
