Gender and 2SLGBTQIA+ Care

Parenting 2SLGBTQIA+

Raising children as a 2SLGBTQIA+ parent, or in a 2SLGBTQIA+ family, comes with its own particular texture of joys and pressures. You may be navigating conversations about identity and acceptance with your kids, working out how to handle situations where your family isn't recognized or affirmed, or figuring out how to advocate for your child in school and community spaces that weren't necessarily designed with your family in mind.

Conversations in therapy open up room to process what that weight feels like and to get specific about the challenges you're actually facing. Together, you might work on how to talk about identity with your children in honest, age-appropriate ways, how to set limits with people or institutions that aren't being supportive, and how to build your child's resilience in environments that may not always be welcoming. The work is grounded in who your family is, not a generic model of what families are supposed to look like.
