Sexual Health and Intimacy

Sexual Shame or Guilt

Shame about sex rarely announces itself clearly. It might show up as anxiety around intimacy, difficulty expressing what you want, a persistent sense that your desires are wrong, or the feeling that certain experiences have made you less worthy of connection. These feelings can come from many places: how you were raised, past experiences, cultural or religious messages, or something that happened to you.

A therapist can help you examine where those feelings came from and whether they're actually serving you now. The work isn't about challenging your values or telling you how to feel about sex. It's about helping you develop a more honest, less painful relationship with your own sexuality. That might mean processing specific experiences, questioning beliefs that have quietly shaped your behaviour for years, or simply having an honest conversation in a space where you don't have to worry about being judged for what you bring.
