Trauma-Informed Parenting

Raising a child who has experienced trauma asks a lot of you. It means learning to read behaviour differently, staying regulated when things escalate, and holding space for a child's fear or anger even when it's directed at you. That can be exhausting and disorienting, especially when typical parenting strategies don't seem to work.

Working with a therapist, you can explore what's happening beneath your child's behaviour and how to respond in ways that build safety and trust over time. Therapy gives you a place to process your own emotional reactions, sharpen your ability to set limits with warmth, and think through what your child needs at different stages. Understanding trauma's effects can shift how you see your child and, often, how you see yourself as a parent.
