Reflecting On Your New Year's Goals

Shift Team

A lady opens her planner on the evening of December 31 planning her goals for next year.

How To Evaluate Your Resolutions

In our last Newsletter we reviewed three key tips to setting resolutions for 2017. Now several weeks into the New Year, is a great time to step back and evaluate how things are going with your resolutions.

Ask yourself:

  1. What were your original reasons for setting this goal?

Remembering your initial motivation can help reinvigorate your commitment.
  2. What’s been working so far?

Focus on your successes and acknowledge your hard work and perseverance.
  3. What hasn’t been working and why?

Be honest with yourself. Is this an issue with motivation or capacity?
  4. Knowing what you know now, consider revising your goal.

If you’ve been successful up to this point, is it time to push yourself even further?

If you’ve faced any setbacks, are there ways to make your initial plan more realistic?
