When many people think of trauma, they often think of veterans or car accidents. What some may not realize is that most of us have experienced a trauma in our past — and it can harm our present.

Lisa talks about the stories we tell ourselves in our minds, how to identify negative narratives and break those habits.

Meet Lisa

Lisa combines her experience supporting trauma and her educational background in neuroscience with a relatable, accessible approach. With Lisa’s support, you can navigate and address difficult moments or periods of time from your past to decrease your anxiety, increase your presence and capacity for connection, and feel more balanced every day.

Lisa completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at McGill University and her Master of Social Work degree at the University of Toronto. Prior to beginning her Masters, she worked at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute as a Clinical Research Coordinator in Montreal. During this role, she conducted and coordinated psychiatric research studies among an adolescent population who were diagnosed with depression and concurrent disorders, as well as additional training at Women’s College Hospital and The Hospital for Sick Children.

In her career, she has focused on developing expertise in trauma by working with adults who have experienced childhood interpersonal trauma, mood disorders, somatization, and relational challenges. Lisa uses an integrated therapeutic approach, which draws on cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness, narrative therapy, and relational psychotherapies. At Shift, she’s our in-house trauma expert and is dedicated to supporting our clients identify, re-frame, and overcome lingering pain or anxiety from their past.
